Hello and welcome to my blog ‘A New Perspective’. My name is Sammy and I’m currently 30 years old, a mother of two beautiful children Brody (three) and Millie (one) and share my life with my incredible husband, Ryan. We are fortunate to live on a 20 acre haven about 26km from Melbourne CBD with beautiful views looking out to the Kinglake Ranges (we get the most amazing sunrises). On our property we have 2 dogs, 2 sheep, 6 alpacas, chicken’s and are visited by lots of kangaroos and other native wildlife daily. As a family we lead a very active and healthy but balanced lifestyle and I personally LOVE running and keeping fit.
On 3rd March 2019 out of the blue I suffered a stroke and as a result was partially paralysed on one side of my body making running, one of my number one passions in life now one of my greatest challenges. 5 months on I am so grateful for the position I am in however, this traumatic experience has certainly given me ‘a new perspective' on life.
I have decided to share my story mainly to remind people to slow down and be present in the moment as I know firsthand how life can change in seconds. I hope to use this blog as a platform to share and reflect on challenges I have faced over the past five years that until now I have kept rather private including the stroke (AVM), my journey to recovery post stroke/surgery, PCOS, fertility issues, two complicated pregnancies and a premature birth.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions, feedback or to share your own story (I would love to hear).
Happy reading!
